A Peace of Nourishment
Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses. Kylie Vander Veer shares the vital steps she took towards recovery. You can watch the two episodes on ABC IView –Compass here.
This Month’s Adventures
Mother’s Day: Learning about self care is a part of recovering from eating issues, so for mother’s day the group made tea jars filled with bath salts and lovingly labelled for their mothers. The group enjoyed the whole experience starting from selecting items from a bulk foods store in Caloundra and heading back to the Mooloolah Valley to create the finished gift.
Buderim Waterfalls : The group had a lovely walk to Buderim Waterfalls. This was a rainforest world of tall trees, ferns, cascades and babbling waterfalls
Magnificent Mugs : Starting our adventure at a local opp shop the group bought some special tea mugs and after decorating them with inspiring quotes, they were filled with Aloe Vera and other succulents.
Arts and Crafts: endEd needed arts and craft drawers for all our creative paraphernalia. The group worked together and one of the talented girls created this magnificent mountain image to compliment the drawers. This image represents the area and our unique place at Mooloolah Valley.
The Enlightenment Garden: During the week the group had a peaceful visit to Chenrezig Buddhist Institute in Eudlo. They visited the Enlightenment Garden, a Stupa, Library and teaching room. They enjoyed a delectable lunch prepared by devotees.
New Additions to the endED Family Farm: Miniature therapy ponies Ivy and Charm are here to help and they love their new home with Neo the new calf.
Eating Disorder Support Group
This support group is a safe place to talk and listen to others still suffering and those who have recovered from an eating disorder. If you’re interested in coming along to our next group please contact us, we’d love to see you there. Every second Wednesday 6pm at Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast.
Parent and Carer Support Group
Every second Sunday at 3pm parents and carers of those suffering from an eating disorder get together for support. These meetings provide a safe haven for people to relay their journeys without fear of judgement and also provide an information resource. The family is an important part of the recovery process and needs support too. Come and join us at Mooloolah Valley. Contact us today to find out more.
